They aren't even self consistent ? When constructing a narrative... telling a lie in a story you made up, that you want others to believe for some reason... you have to construct it in a way that the average reader of fiction might accept as plausible. So, all of the elements of the story have to hang together... and when you find one part that's "obviously made up BS"... the rest doesn't matter ? The quality of the illusion you depend upon to sustain the suspension of disbelief... is destroyed ? If its badly written enough that it struggles as fiction... its probably not any better as "news" ?
Useful to consider the source... and find out what motivates them... so let me know what you find out about who "Global Research" is... and why you would think them a reliable source ?

I won't rehash it all here... but I posted quite a lot about "the virus" from January 25th on... before others were paying attention... until there wasn't a point in me addressing it anymore.
I didn't read others articles and accept them... I did the work myself, to sort through everything out there... validate it, or not, using reason... and see what actually made the most sense.
My opinion is that the ACTUAL evidence directly supports the idea that the virus was engineered in the lab in Wuhan... it follows almost exactly in line with the work they were doing there... work which they published in scientific journals... not like its a secret. Evaluating the genetics and protein structures of the virus... pretty clearly reveals that it was modified... using standard tools... with four regions in particular appearing to be "insertions" of exotic material... one of those the residuals of the "tools"... three others being other "functional" mods... one still a mystery last I checked. ie, it IS engineered, is not a natural product.... with a probability that approaches... the odds it is not roughly akin to the odds that you're going to walk to the moon tomorrow.
The rest ? My opinion... is that the virus was the deliberate product of experiments done at the Wuhan research lab... where they were engaged in "gain of function" studies they shouldn't have been doing, but were allowed to do. (China has since changed the rules.) The evidence also shows the lab was poorly managed... while doing extraordinarily dangerous work that they weren't close to being qualified to conduct... way beyond their ability... all of which is consistent with thinking that it was accidentally released. Everything seen subsequent to the event appears to validate that. Why did the officials in Wuhan try hard to suppress awareness that the virus even existed... when the doctors tried to sound the alarm ? Apparently... the local officials in Wuhan were all covert operatives of the American Army ?
Why is that concern with origins important ? Because, if they made the virus... it means they KNEW what the intended functions of the modifications they made were... and knowing that... since it was all right there in their lab notes... it should have made it obvious what the risks were... but also should have made it obvious and easy to know what might work to blunt its impacts ? China had to be dragged to it kicking and screaming... lied about it at every step... but, then, suddenly, they do appear to have suddenly both "figured it out" and "gotten on top of it"... but only when the Army was put in charge... and only after, as a part of taking over, they took control of the lab and implemented changes at the lab ?
My guess is they lied to Xi about its origins... and he learned they were lying to him only when the code was published... and others noted it clearly indicated the remnant signatures of the effort in engineering...
China essentially admitted it... in the changes they implemented in lab procedures and management in the wake of the release... which occurred only after the central government took control of the effort in Wuhan... Many of the changes implemented that started turning things around... were the same things I had suggested were necessary to be able to stop the virus... given how far it had already been allowed to spread ? Much of what they had been doing... was only making it worse?
It appears the lab knew they'd released it... and then tried to cover it up. The local government too was pretty clearly operating in cover-up mode. Not clear yet when Beijing finally figured that out... and figured out the locals weren't going to succeed in "containment". Not clear when they figured out they'd been lied to about it... or that the "let's ignore it and maybe it will burn itself out" approach wasn't going to work.
Look at the decision to publish the genetic code of the virus... directed by Xi... and you should get the key answer... as at that point they were finally a lot more concerned about getting others help sorting it out than they were about sustaining effort in covering it up...
So, knowing all that... what was the proper response, here ? It was... OK... we know sorta what we got now... so let's figure out how to contain it... and "the rest" will take care of itself later. China seems to think now is a good time to address that element of responsibility... by deflecting ? Mostly that makes it appear far more likely they were developing it intending to use it as a weapon, as that is exactly what they are doing in using it now... by coordinating propaganda attacks coincident with the exponential expansion phase of the virus here.
Was it engineered to be a weapon... and released as part of an attack ?
Nothing about it I've seen suggests that to be true... at least until recently. There's a lot of overlap between research done trying to protect people from "things like this"... which you can't really do without looking at "things like this" ? The Wuhan lab was engaged in studying DEFENSE against coronavirus affinities for ACE-2... and did gain of function (which they shouldn't have) as a part of that. A lot of things done routinely in the lab... would be dangerous if let out of the lab... which is why you don't let them out ? But, "dual use" of course... they might be lying. If China intended this as a weapon, and are using it as an attack.... attacking themselves first might make sense... it worked in suppressing the protests in Hong Kong... and it deflects suspicion, and leaves China "over it" just as its having growing impact on others. That they CLEARLY ARE using it as a means of conducting an attack on the west now... by using it in propaganda... is at least a very solid proof of very bad judgement... on someone's part.
So, why do that now ? Likely indicates awareness that China's risks are growing... as the virus ends... and people pissed off at having it imposed on them... and pissed of at the way it was managed... are looking for someone to blame...
