I don't know about all that. All I know is that I grew up with a group of old Catholic priests who were good and highly educated men, dedicated to raising strong, independent minded boys who could lead this world. They were not gay and none of them engaged in any morally depraved activities. Many of them I would call saints on earth. My experience with Catholicism is that it is a force for tremendous good in this world. It has its flaws, and I have to admit, I loathe the Rome version of Catholicism with all its pomp and waste of money. But in my little corner, where I grew up in Texas, the priests were the real deal and I still love them for the values they taught me, among them that there is one God who loves us and looks after us, even when we turn our backs on Him. Jesus must weep to see how the US has turned its back on God.
