Simply, going long on a stock by buying the calls first and waiting for a price increase before exercising the stock via a buy/write. On the one hand, you have less money at risk and you are able to lock in a lower stock price. On the other hand, you could have done a buy/write and perhaps locked in some extra time value. I just hate it when I buy occasionally stock(s) and they turn sour the next day for no reason.
