What a beautiful animal.

We had a similar thing happen where I live only it was a bear. Beatrice had been living in the area for over four years and every single one of those years she would give birth to twins. People would see her wandering around the various rural neighborhoods, and yes, once in awhile she'd get into garbage cans. But over all Beatrice was a sweet girl doing her best to make sure her cubs survived. Last year a new person moved into the neighborhood and caught Beatrice and her cubs out in his yard. He was evidently afraid or who knows ???? but meaning to kill her, he shot at her and missed shooting her in the foot instead of the heart. After that happened, people would see Beatrice once in awhile and she seemed to be recovering from the gunshot wound. The cubs also looked good and well fed. A couple of months after that incident Beatrice was hit and killed by a car out on the highway. Several days later one of her cubs was also hit and killed by a car out on the highway. A neighbor said they saw the last cub going down the river in a flood a week later and no one knows if it made it. Doubtful as cubs need their mothers and this one was still too young to live on its own let alone survive a ride down a raging river.

I hate hearing stories about wildlife being killed by humans.
