donsurber.blogspot.com Democrats fear a cure

The biggest fear for Democrats today are chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. Democrat governors in Michigan and Nevada have banned their use to fight COVID-19, not because the drugs may harm people but because the drugs may work.
The party's flying monkeys in the press are casting shade on this possible cure.
Politico reported, "President Donald Trump’s all-out push to advance unproven corona virus treatments is deepening a divide between the White House and career health officials, who are being pulled away from other potential projects to address the president’s hunch that decades-old malaria medicines can be corona virus cures.
"The White House directed health officials to set up a project to track if the antimalarial drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine show promise — a dayslong effort that distracted from urgent tasks like trials of other medicines thought to have more potential against the virus. Food and Drug Administration officials also reversed a nearly six-year ban on a troubled Indian manufacturer in a bid to secure the drugs, and top advisers to Trump have encouraged other agencies to locate as much of the product as possible. The White House is also pressuring Medicare officials to pay for unproven treatments being given to desperate patients during a pandemic."
The headline read, "Trump's push for risky malaria drugs disrupts corona virus response."
The risk the Democrats fear is success.
Buried in the story in Paragraphs 38 and 39 was the reason President Donald John Trump wants to give it a try.
The story said, "German drugmaker Bayer, which holds the original chloroquine patent, was the first to get involved when Chinese officials approached the company as that nation’s outbreak raged in early February. The experience provided lessons for how to use the drug, said Matthias Berninger, a Bayer public affairs executive, like that it works best when given to people soon after infection, rather than waiting until they’re hospitalized in an intensive care unit and forced to use a respirator.
"Now New York, with 60% of new U.S. corona virus infections, is the emerging front line of the pandemic. Bayer has donated three million pills to the federal government, confident from its experience in China that the drug could push down the number of people who need to go to the hospital — so long as it goes to the right patients."
Thus it isn't crazy old Orange Man with a hare-brained idea.
This is science.
Elsewhere in the world, they are giving the treatment a chance.
Indo-Asian News Service reported, "The health experts in India staunchly believe that hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, is currently the only remedy against the novel corona virus, while also pointing towards its underlying side effects.
"The Indian Council of Medical Research has approved the use of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive drug for corona virus, which has infected hundreds of people till now.
"India has declared it an essential drug and restricted its sale and distribution. It can now only be sold on prescription.
"Medical Director of LNJP Hospital, Kishore Singh told IANS, “Hydrochloroquine is only remedy available with us right now. As compared to other chloroquine, it is much safer but has very well-documented side-effects.”
"He said that its intake can cause vomiting, hyperglycemia, hypothyroidism, optic neuropathy and hepatotoxicity.
"Many countries, including the US, are using Hydroxychloroquine as a life-saving measure amid the wide-spread corona virus outbreak."
It appears to work. French Doctor Didier Raoult said the treatment worked on 78 of 80 patients.
Which is why Democrats hate it. They fear a defeat of COVID-19 will cost them in the next election -- which explains why the U.S. press wants people to think the treatment will kill you.
Our press and the rest of the Democrat Party root for the failure of these drugs because the Orange Man has high hopes for it.
Democrats thought COVID-19 would destroy President Donald John Trump.
Frank Bruni of the New York Times wrote, "There was never any doubt that this pandemic would scramble November 2020, but how much — and how? At first, all the great oracles augured Trump’s long-delayed reckoning and his certain demise, given his hemming, his hawing, his lying and his economy, which was suddenly in tatters. This was it. He’d finally met his undoing. It couldn’t have happened to a more cavalier guy."
But then they thought the Billy Bush Tape, the Russian Collusion Hoax, the Mueller Report, the Creepy Porn Lawyer, the 2018 Stock Market Correction, and the Unconstitutional Impeachment would destroy him.
Each time, they were wrong.
This time as well.
Bruni wrote, "But over the past two weeks, that prophecy has changed — or at least turned cloudier. In recent polls, his approval rating ticked upward. His disapproval rating inched downward. There’s talk of a Trump bump, an appallingly cute phrase for an unthinkably dire development. Now more than ever, it’s hard to fathom four more years of this president."
Goodness, think of what curing COVID-19 would do to demented, corrupt Joe Biden's chances of getting elected.
But give Bruni credit for seeing outside his bubble.
He wrote, "To most of the president’s detractors, that assessment is mystifying: How can his abundant misstatements of fact, delusional optimism and painful failure to pantomime empathy amount to an advantage?
"They ask: What about the way Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx have been forced at those briefings to tweak the president’s message and correct some of his remarks?
"Well, you notice that mostly if you’re skeptical and paying a kind of pointillist attention, focusing on the dots. What many Americans do is pull back and see the larger, gauzier picture, and that’s of the president surrounded by serious people who are under his command. While Fauci, Birx and some others are there to make sure that rationality and expertise are injected into Trump’s decisions — and should be commended for that — they wind up sanitizing and upsizing him. Call it accidental validation."
The experts flank him because Donald John Trump is the president. That is a subtle point that the press and Democrats continually overlook in their obsession to destroy him. At a time when we need presidential leadership, President Donald John Trump is providing it.
And there may be a cure, which is the last thing Democrats want.
