In the Bay Area some things are hard to find at the store- if you are not experiencing shortages (although even Amazon has some) here is what will go first:

Canned soup
canned tuna and chicken
pasta sauce
pasta
rice
bread
dried beans
Powdered milk and shelf stable milk

canned veggies
CAnned or jarred tomatoes- all kinds (whole, chopped, etc)

toilet paper
paper towels
hand sanitizer
soap
alcohol
over the counter medicines (make sure you have everything you need- NOW)
frozen veg
frozen meat
frozen preprepared meals
YEAST- almost no one can find this
flour
sugar
milk
eggs

butter

fresh fruit- hard to find now (are people hoarding this? Or just eating more fruit? No idea.)

If it's too late, and you are already having shortages-
There seems to be a lot of cheese still out there- especially gourmet cheese, ditto for gourmet meats
so, if it's out of the price range or comfort zone of the average American, it's going to be left on the shelf (wax beans, for example, were the only beans left some places. I guess the name turned people off)
So stock up your pantries people- just to be safe. Don't buy anything you won't eat eventually- but stock up now.
