Yes, China could be fudging numbers. I also think they were overwhelmed so quickly, being the first country, that quality testing was just not in the cards. In fact, China reported that they actually abandoned testing after a few weeks, deciding to treat everyone with symptoms of CV as though they definitely had it.

I'm assuming all the data from China re cases and mortality rates are unreliable. What is valuable data from China are the various treatment methods that were tried out there. Of particular value, I think, is that the Chinese claim to have significantly reduced the death rate from 65% to 14% in the elderly and other at risk population by changing protocol. If anyone in this group presented with a fever and other basic flu symptoms, testing was skipped and the patient was put immediately on oxygen therapy, a precursor to a ventilator.

Also useful is that there was apparent success with three of the various HIV anti-virals. Don't remember the names. They were given in conjunction with some traditional Chinese herbal concoctions.
