Company Press Release MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1998--Stratasys, Inc. (NASDAQ NMS:SSYS - news) today announced its new large high-speed rapid prototyping (RP) system, the FDM Quantum(TM). By incorporating the new MagnaDrive(TM) technology, the FDM Quantum achieves very fast throughput, superior ABS part quality, accuracy and reliability. This system builds parts up to 2.5 to 5 times faster than the company's current FDM systems. Additionally, a much larger build envelope enables users to create sizable functional prototypes, tooling patterns and masters.
The FDM Quantum allows users to build high throughput prototypes in sizes up to 600 x 500 x 600 mm (23.6 x 19.7 x 23.6 inches) in ABS plastic, making it a strong RP tool for the aerospace, automotive and consumer goods industries. The new TouchWorks(TM) command center offers simplified system control. It allows users to select build options and to check part build status and material levels. The FDM Quantum operates in an office environment without the need for venting. Stratasys' proprietary QuickSlice(R) software automatically slices the part and, if necessary, generates supports. QuickSlice operates on Windows NT, Hewlett-Packard, Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystem platforms.
With the addition of the FDM Quantum, Stratasys offers the largest selection of RP systems in the industry. Stratasys RP systems cover the entire product development process, from the Genisys 3D printer for fast iterations of concepts, to high-speed FDM systems for producing precision functional prototypes, tooling patterns and masters.
Stratasys Inc., founded in 1989, is a manufacturer of rapid prototyping systems for automotive, aerospace, industrial, recreation, electronic, medical and consumer products OEMs. The Company's patented Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM(TM)) and Genisys rapid prototyping processes create 3-dimensional plastic, elastomers and wax prototype parts directly from 3-D CAD systems.
