But of course, Alan. The OEMs all love Microsoft. They've been saying this early and often, ever since the current matter broke. And, their love of Microsoft has nothing at all to do with the matters that lead up to this affair to begin with.
I'd agree, of course, that Microsoft hasn't given up anything significant. They weren't asked to give up anything significant in the first place. With the great love that the OEMs have for Microsoft, they would have shipped the IE bundle no matter what choice they were offered. Microsoft is taking them where they want to go! But what, pray tell, did Microsoft gain by the long, drawn out middle finger thing? Now, the spinmeisters are all telling us they just didn't understand. It was all a mistake, as will no doubt be explained momentarily in Kinder, Gentler II: Ballmer plants a tree.
It was just a little skirmish, Alan. The issues aren't going away.
Cheers, Dan. |
