Capitalism implies an arms-length transaction. A short squeeze is not an arms length transaction. Essentially, in a short squeeze, one or more persons buy up the float, forcing the shorts to pay the price set by the cartel. The price set is artificial: it in no way depends on the true value of the goods being sold. This is "extortion," which is the obtainment of money from another by coercion, which means to compel an action by pressure or threat. A short squeeze compels the purchase of stock through pressure on the shorts. I did not mean to imply that a true short squeeze is illegal, and I am sorry if you understood my post to imply such..
