Todd, << The biggest DD WDC makes is the 6.4GB caviar because it's only a 3 platter DD. Why 3 platter? Why not 4? Are they about to get lost in the quick tansition to the higher capacity DDs? Has anyone heard any plans for the 2.8GB Chandler family? Is it a 4 platter DD or still a 3 platter? >>

I think on the WDC website they feature a 9+GB SCSI drive. But for IDE, I think the 6.4 GB is the biggest as of now.

Frankly I do not know of any "Chandler" line. Is this really new stuff? I thought they only had Caviar and the new SCSI series. WDC recently announced they wanted to get out of drive for notepads and mobile systems, if I remember correctly.

I could definitely be wrong on a couple of things in the above paragraph. Shall we call WDC IR and ask for "Chandler"?

Thomas
