Start by estimating that the bark is 5% quinine. If you are extracting most of it, you would need to consume tea made from just 10 grams of bark to get 500 milligrams. 10g × 5% × 1000 = 500mg.

Also, FWIW, from my experience 10g of bark is about 2.5 teaspoons.

Of course the true potency of the bark and the extraction rate are huge unknowns. And my math is always suspect. <g/ng>
