Cute Wharfie, but after all that complaining over the "war on terrorism," now you want to invoke war analogies when it comes to a pandemic?

Of course the federal government needs to respond. No one said, "We wish California good luck in dealing with COVID-19."

But in this case, the state response from California was the right one to make, and it was made well before the federal government got involved.

Seriously, if you think the response to COVID-19 ought to be centralized, then do you think our state and local officials should have waited for Trump to get off his ass and say, "OK, you need to tell everyone to stay at home"?

That's exactly what happened in NYC, by the way. Mayor Bill de Blasio was demanding approval for a "stay at home" order, which Gov. Cuomo refused. Centralized control was the reason why NYC was late in trying to flatten the curve, because they had to wait for politicians in Albany to make decisions for them.

There is no analogy to Pearl Harbor in this case. Or 9/11 for that matter. America's military is a broadsword, not a scalpel.
