<<I'm puzzled by your assertion that Zip disks are far from noncritical because any new computer we get has to have one. Frankly, it sounds like a very badly run, seat-of-the-pants computer network you have there.>>

Let me clarify. We are not required to get zip drives - people simply insist on them in every new computer we buy. Yes I grasp that people make CDs for archival storage. Finally, it is the Univ. of California Berkeley network - not exactly seat of the pants. I will now take a deep breath, ignore your remark, which was uncalled for - frankly - & get out of this office, I'm spending too much time in front of computers, whatever the storage medium. I'm going home to plot my takeover of IOM at bargain prices.
