clappy~

i use a Nikon P900.
It's quite a large bodied point and shoot camera
with a lot of capabilities.
price is very good these days.
the drawback for some people is that
you can't shoot RAW photos with it,
but Nikon now has the P950 which can.
I don't worry about that - I use the P900
and am happy with .jpg images.
the zoom is 83x.
It has a lot of mode setting which are
actually very good.
i use the moon setting for doing the moon stuff
and I'm shooting handheld - no tripod -
so that says a lot for the image stabilization.
i do usually rest the camera against a door sash
or on top of the barbecue or something
to get these shots.
i do a lot of bird photography and it's great for that.
i have been asked about this camera by a lot of folk
and i'd say at least 12 to 15 have bought one of these
and they love it and take all kinds of cool photos.
i should be getting a bird dog fee from Nikon
or maybe they should be sending me new cameras
to try out and review.
in any case, i'm still very pleased with it after 2 years.
it is a heavy camera - almost as big as a lot of DSLRs.
the nice thing is that there are no lenses to change
and also it is inexpensive enough that i wouldn't totally freak out
if something bad happened to it.
i go into a lot of places where a camera could get destroyed
so that is actually an important consideration for me.
having my canoe roll over with a 600 buck camera
would be a lot different than with a 5K buck camera and lens. :)
