It is important to note that what we have going on right now with the economic depression is an almost perfect corollary to what was going on in 1932 during the Great depression and that Trump is almost exactly like Herbert Hoover was in his psychopathic personality and bankrupt right wing ideology and incompetence, and the Republicans are addressing it in EXACTLY the same psychopathic and incompetent ham handed way.
There is a great article in the Huffington Post today comparing Trump to Hoover and the Republican party of the time 1928 to 1932 to today.
It is about time people noticed this. I have been trying to explain the similarities for decades; and explaining the Republican party has been the same party ideologically for over 100 years. As people look into this and learn their history about the period 1928 to 1932 they will see Hoover's attitudes about the Great depression, and his ineptitude in addressing it, were "exactly" like Trump.
And Hoover was massacred in the 1932 election with FDR getting 472 electoral votes and Hoover only 59.
I expect it will be the same situation in November, a serious depression and Trump being as stupid and callous as Hoover was, and is why I keep saying the Democrats will win very big in November.
I am glad to see someone woke up to the fact Hoover was EXACTLY like Trump in his personality and politics and the Republican party the same as today e.g. not wanting to help the poor during the great depression, or close the banks, or use government to mitigate the depression, and along with the New Deal later was seen by both Hoover and the Republicans as a road to socialism. Just like today.
As I have been posting on SI for about 20 years, Hoover and the Republican party had "exactly" the same philosophy and psychopathic attitude about big government, the people, and poor, as the modern day Republican party does and big government versus capitalism.
The Republicans have been this way for 100 years, and then, as now, the Republican party was only working for the rich. So people who say the Republican party left them are full of shit. It has been the same party for 100 years. The Republicans fought the New deal tooth and nail calling it socialism, like today.
For 100 years the Republican party has been trying to get rid of government programs. And modern social demographics show us good big governments spawn the best societies, in fact it is impossible to have a well functioning society without sufficient taxes and government. Which is also why people who say I am a fiscal conservative, but a liberal socially, is an equation that does not compute.
Steven Moore, Forbes and Art Lafffer, the three stooges, just penned an article in the WSJ against providing money to the unemployed.
