My personal view is that the first clause of the Second Amendment "A well-regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state," is simply a superfluous assertion and exerts no control whatsoever over the second clause "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

If the framers had intended what our opposition keeps asserting, they would have written: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms for use in a well-regulated militia shall not be infringed."

They didn't say that. So: CASE CLOSED.

Simple, unambiguous.
