Internet storage is not that far fetched. Here in Ann Arbor, we currently have an internet storage device known as IFS. Roughly 40,000 people have anywhere between 20 to 100 Mb of storage that they can access whenever they want as long as they have internet access. However, this is a cutting edge technology environment. However, I do see ISPs starting to provide this service. It will probably be the standard within 5 years. I'm not saying that removable media storage will be completely eliminated, but it will be hurt. My afs space functions as a ZIP drive that I don't physically have to move from work to home, and I don't need a ZIP drive for each of my computers. On the downside, the cost is roughly $10/month.
