Madharry,

Your expectation of a "post" covid-19 virus world is pretty much what I was thinking until a meeting of group leaders in my division last week. Before that, I would have fully expect that the 15 to 30 year olds will do whatever they are allowed to whenever since they are invincible. And many older folks might be willing to go back on their cruises, other travels, etc. since they figure they only have a few good years left and you only get so many chances to have this or that experience before its too late anyway. But i would have thought many of the rest of us would be pretty cautious for quite a while.

But at the meeting, we discussed a major industry conference coming up in late june in which most of our division participates. I spoke up and said no way am I getting on a plane in June and flying to a conference to spend many hours of time in large meetings with people from all over the country (and world). But everyone other person was concerned only with the logistics of when would travel approval happen and should they make hotel reservations now and start booking plane tickets, etc. I don't get it. IF one of the drug combos being tested was declared effective tomorrow and the number of new cases started plunging next week and by the end of May there were single digit numbers of Americans dying (this is what I consider to be a wildly optimistic best case scenario), I still wouldn't be taking a trip for many months. But now I wonder just how quickly the majority of Americans are ready to "get back to normal". Of course, we all got an email the very next day that the June conference was cancelled.

Just my opinion and not backed up by anything else.
steve
