This virus is not "the flu"... ?

If you did nothing to manage this virus... it would kill 14% of the population.

That it hasn't done that here... isn't a proof it wasn't a threat... ?

The world has "mostly" done a decent job in implementing control measures... and, outside of China, the authoritarian "we must maintain stability with force" approach has been almost entirely unnecessary...

Pretending people are staying home now out of a fear of the authorities ? A couple of nut jobs might get off thinking that's what's happening...

There was that one police chief in the U.K. who went a tad wacky...

Instead... other than what actually happened in Wuhan ?

"Flatten the curve" is the right idea... only until there is something more useful...

As far as "the Flu kills X"... the most obvious question is... why is that considered OK... when doing what we're doing now in social distancing and washing hands... would mostly prevent that ?

But, more directly on point... they're sort of glossing over why the systemic responses to those lesser threats has been so profitable, yet ineffective ?

It's pretty clear the entire health sector... is bound so tightly red tape that it is rendered mostly ineffective ?
