Hindsight seems always 20/20 To bad in the US politics is damage to some of the best leadership the country has had since Regan That said I believe the US should send a deligation to British Columbia to examine their total hospital and health Care system Cheaper than OBama care or the private system in the USA. And provides top Drawer care. Hospitals are operated at cost not for profit, Doctors can charge less as there is never unpaid bills to collect or balance out Life threatened Critical patients prioritized while elective and non critical are scheduled with some wait times The priority is on Life not who can afford it at the cost of the less fortunate. However people who have money to pay for it, are free to obtain services and operations in other countries if they choose not to wait. This shortens the line for other scheduled waits. but even waits of up to a couple of months are not long as compared to what I've hear of in other parts of Canada. BC probably has the best health Care system in Canada. No charge or surcharge fees for health care, Emergency visits, hospitalization, operations or Meds, while in hospital. All Prescriptions subsidized approx. 80% for seniors and and invalids who qualify. By having not for profit hospitals much is ran by volanteers and charitable organizations. And numerous businesses and people donate funds for new and modern equipment some their entire wills. Teck Resources and the Pattisson group built and donated a complete wing for the Vancouver Childrens hospital Jim Pattisson of the owner Pattisson Group built the pattisson wing on the Vancouver General hospital. Kal Tire Canada's largest who is also partnered with of less Schwab in 10 or 20 othe countries has also made numerous large donations to individual facilities. People and businesses are proud to contribute and help because 100% goes to provincial health care for all Not for share holder profits. Doctors of from around the world including the USA come because payment is ample and very secure Canada and BC is open to generic drugs because it keeps care costs lower. iT is truly a great system BC hasin place. And it was instituted by Right wing Premier WAC Bennet back in 1952. Each and every government has improved on it ever since regardless of political lean. And NOt a single British Columbian would ever vote to part with it. If the US wants a public health Care system they must begin with the federal Government and states working together in building or converting private to public Hospitals which operate at cost for the good of the people. You cannot have low cost public health care if Private hospitals are exploiting or gouging the system, having to answer for shareholders profits. Neither Sanders nor OBama appeared comprehend this point in their approach Other wise it may have worked . Just begin with a few States the rest will soon follow once they realize the benefit and what is possible to be had if done correctly. The Blue print is already working well in British Columbia.
