And millions more would have had it without social distancing, leading to significantly more deaths. The volume in a short period of time would have overwhelmed the system - think dead bodies piling up in emergency rooms. Not something folks in the US would stand for.

it’s a pretty big leap to argue that social distancing has been worse than letting the virus run amok. Pretty hard to prove the counter factual.
