That post was to show people the silliness of coming to conclusion on mortality rates before we do the proper randomized testing of the population in the proper sample sizes and with a stratification that allows for extrapolation to the population.
Unfortunately, time was of the essence. The death rates for COVID-19, given the data that we already had by early March, pointed to a percentage somewhere between 1-10%, depending on the treatment options available.

We didn't have the luxury to say, "Well are those numbers truly reliable? Are the infection rates actually greater than expected? If so, would a lockdown do more harm than good?"

Later on this year, we should have better research and better answers to all of these questions. Heck, my wife is licking her chops since she may get to participate in the research process. And not just research into COVID-19, but also research into other related viruses. You can bet that there will be no shortage of funds poured into this subject.
