According to the new Pew survey, 65% of Americans say that President Trump was too slow to take major steps to handle the threat of the novel coronavirus in the U.S.: 66% of Americans are more concerned about state governments lifting social distancing and stay-at-home orders "too quickly" than "not quickly enough. Meanwhile, 73% of Americans think "the worst is still to come," while 26% believe the worst from the virus is over.

President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak – especially his response to initial reports of coronavirus cases overseas – is widely criticized. Nearly two-thirds of Americans (65%) say Trump was too slow to take major steps to address the threat to the United States when cases of the disease were first reported in other countries.
