Well, I think everyone knew that from the get go. Trump is a flawed person, no doubt. However, the problem with the left side is two-fold. Hillary dropped the mask when she called 50% of the country "Deplorables". She showed us the disdain for working class people that the Democrats have. That was a fatal mistake, because no one likes being looked down on and the Democrats continue to do that by being so out of touch. Witness Pelosi's recent demo of her gourmet ice cream in her $30K double freezer from Sub-Zero. Those are expensive. And yet, she wants everyone to believe she's in this with us?

The second mistake is Socialism and Communism. Bernie is a Communist who now called himself a Socialist, even though Gen X and Boomers know darned well once a Communist always a Communist. AOC is a Socialist. Those dogs don't hunt with the 50 and older crowd. We are old enough to remember fighting wars to make sure that crap didn't reach our shores. So yes, we're losing the cultural war on that front, but you won't find 50 and older crowd getting excited about Dems until they completely disavow Socialism and Communism and back Capitalism and Freedom, which is what made this country great and will keep us great.

So that's the issue. Conservatives in this country have not changed much. The left has changed a lot and very rapidly over the last 5 years. That is the source of the rancor and the inability for the Dems to win.
