Price of oil going negative reminds of a story I read by a bookseller. A local library was closing down and requested sealed bids for its entire inventory of books. Bookseller said what the heck and submitted bid for $300 which, much to his surprise, was accepted. (I think he was the only bidder)

Initially he thought, holy smokes, what a bargain. Then he proceeded to tell the story of what is entailed in boxing, transporting, cataloging, and storing an entire library of books. It didn't occurred to him that he would have to rent warehouse for storage and all the other headaches, expense he would incur.

Had there been no bidders for the inventory then the library would have had to pay someone to come in and dispose of the books.
