Given how many people on this forum are retired, I would expect a better appreciation for how serious the coronavirus is, instead of dismissing it as no worse than seasonal flu.

Unfortunately I'm getting closer to that age... In a way I am retired as I haven't had any significant work since last Fall. This virus thing certainly doesn't help.

Hopefully the elderly don't have to stay home, though. Face masks and Purell might become the new normal.

I'm an advocate for opening up slowly and doing this right away. This would allow small shops and restaurants to open. People will just choose whether or not they feel safe enough in this environment and not have it dictated by the government.

Also I'm hoping for a miracle from Big Pharma here in the Bay Area, such as Gilead.

A college classmate of mine works there. We drove up to Sac Town together about three years ago to see our team play in the NCAA tournament. Hadn't seen him since graduation in '84. I'm sure he's excited about the treatment but unfortunately it isn't a vaccine.
