4/24/2020 Contest update
(Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.)
Biotechs continued their Covid-19 outperformance, with both the NBI and SPSIBI now in the green YTD.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -6.22% YTD (vs. down -11.60% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 6.63% YTD (vs. up 5.36% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 3.90% YTD (vs. down –1.98% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was down -4.28% YTD (vs. down -4.11% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio remains in the Contest lead with a stunning 77.42% YTD gain. Both second place FILO’s portfolio, up 50.98% YTD, and third place IPOL’s portfolio, up 44.94% YTD, have also racked up impressive numbers.
At Friday's close, 15 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 12 beating the NBI and 13 beating the SPSIBI.
The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 6.28% and a median YTD loss of -8.03%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: ARYC trading still suspended by SEC. I’m using close on 4/13/20, the last day it traded before suspension.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Stay safe and enjoy our final April, 2020 weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
