For me, western education should stress the history of BS and the tools we all need as BS detectors; not merely memorizing taxonomy and equations to pass tests. For example, the study of comparative religions, but not the study of One "scripture" as Truth (capital O capital T.)
C_O-

you and i both have some pretty extensive backgrounds in media production
so we're not easily misled by propaganda - we know how the smoke and the
mirrors are used to make ANY point... even if the producers/directors are
trying to be as truthful as possible (small "t"), there's STILL, ALWAYS got to
be a POV for the story - and THAT is something viewers should always be
aware of when watching ANY production - even when it's LIVE. it's ALL
propaganda, even when completely true (small "t").

i don't know how that "common sense" can be incorporated into western
education other than including media production in the course of the curriculum.
any ideas?

-elpolvo (former government access TV producer/director) - our most common
POV was LIVE - FLY ON THE WALL - government meetings and news conferences
with NO edits on the replays... and STILL the director always put "spin" into the
coverage just by the choice of camera shots he/she would choose to use during
the live production.
