I suspect that the operating system that you wrote in school was not subject to the attacks of some of the 'hackers' of today, or for that matter the handling of some of the 'poorly' coded applications of today! Any operating system runs fine in the 'idle loop'!

All I remember from the project was that the app was suppose to manage several users that were loading and running several applications. Some apps might core dump, you can't. It was more of a lesson in state transition programming.

Hopefully, commercial code doesn't have hackers or viruses.
