Not what I'm hearing:

Anthony Fauci, the head of NIAID and the government’s top infectious-disease specialist, said at a White House meeting with President Donald Trump and Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards that the trial showed a significant positive effect on the virus and that the results “were quite good news.”

...

Fauci called the study the “first truly high-powered randomized placebo-controlled trial” of remdesivir.

NEW: Dr. Anthony Fauci said at the White House that data on Gilead's remdesivir show "clear cut significant positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery" and shows the "drug can block the virus."

Note that there's no actual data from the NIH study he's talking about yet. Data today were from a separate GILD sponsored trial comparing 5 vs 10 day regiment. It's hopeful since the 5 day regimen seems to work as well if not better than the 10, and this may mean more capacity to treat patients.
