What I keep trying to show to people is just how barbaric we humans where really until just about 50 years ago.
People need to dwell on the fact we allowed people to have SLAVES just 150 years ago. Slaves. Imagine, people sat down at dinner and argued if that was OK and then we had to force the slave states to give it up and 100 years later we had to force the same people to give up Black Chain Gangs and segreation.
Imagine the full depth of barbarism both slavery and segregation represent!
People need to study science and history more than they do, especially the men. A little less time watching sports and a little more time learning about human history and science.
We humans have been barbarians and too much of that still exists. It is NOT OK to be racist, sexist, homophobic, or for societies to have norms and mores that are those things. And yet half the world still does.
And it is important for people to realize just how much smarter and civilized we are today than even 100 years ago.
The more humans know about their history and science the more civilized and humanitarian we will become and the better chance we will have of surviving the "singularity" on our door step.
People should know at least the basics about our history e.g. the importance to tools and even more so FIRE! They should know how we settled down 12,000 to 15,000 years ago and started growing grains and domesticating animals, and how we were dominated by MYTHS during that time and how through learning and the development of metals, math and languages led to today getting rid of those myths and replacing them with modern humanitarian civilization.
These things should be basic knowledge.
Cheers
The good news is that the women are studying those subjects, it seems, much more than the men, and maybe they will be our salvation? |
