TJ, morning sun on the beach today with no pollution contains around 4% UV-A and around 0.5% UV-B this makes for a nice tan.

If you stay longer toward noon in a clean day the UV-B is increasing and you can get skin poisoning. Not a pleasant event if you do not have sunscreen creme - especially in the Caribbean and you should know that as the earth has a 23 degree tilt.
