UV Light Therapy is Being Studied

When I lived in South Korea (1989-1997) I had to have eye surgery at a local eye clinic in Pyeongtaek. After the surgery I was sat in a chair and handed a cone like device with a wooden handle and told to hold it over my eye. It was a UV light and I had to use it for about 15 minutes before they let me leave the office. It just felt like something out of the 50's at the time and then I remembered all the UV lights in restaurants I had worked at as a kid setup around the glassware shelves.
