Paul, re: "The 233MHz Pentium MMX will drop from $193 to $134." Thanks for this article (and thanks also to Barry Grossman for posting another one a bit later on Pentium price trends). It turns out that I and my development team need to make a decision on what processor to use in our console processor, which boots up, scans, logs out etc. our much bigger processor. We've been using Pentium MMX's, but it looked like they might be going by the wayside pretty soon and the world may all have to go to Pentium II. I have nothing against the PII, but our console application doesn't require a ton of CPU speed. Cost is more important. With Intel announcing price cuts for 233, 200 and 166 MHz Pentiums, it looks like they'll still be available for a while.

A couple of guys are pushing that we should evaluate the K6 or a Cyrix chip. I have to keep reminding them that those suggestions could be "career limiting moves".
