Hi folks-- discount any rumours. MEO is now working on their second hole. -
The first hole was NOT a dud-- it was drilling into marsh, and the core kept slipping out of the drill (couldn't get it out of the hole). Apparently this is not unusual when drilling into this type of stuff. [I've heard elsewhere that when the drillers hit "stringers" (or differing layers of material), & unless it's timed/weighted just right, the core lets go.] In this case, the core was 1st plugging up w/ the marshy material and then falling back into the hole. SO, the crew finally decided to give up on a vertical drilling of the hole, and plans to return to drill it again before the envir'l deadline in Mar., this time with an angled hole.
In moving forward in the hi-priority target drill program, Hole #2 was started on the weekend, and should be complete w/in a day or two. It's one of the 22 high priority targets too, of course, but it is not anticipated to drill into marsh, and should be more predictable. The core sample will be sent to a non-MEO-affiliated lab for analysis.
Should hear news back in a week or so+ (again, ta time of ~5 wd's). Just remember that unexpectancies like this are actually common-place in these types of programs. I heard that a couple months ago ACA had a rig fall thru the ice, and was working to get it out!! *If you're in the kitchen, kids, you have to learn how to handle the heat a lil! Targets are still just as sweet.
-Stock weak today-- end of month selling, lack of news, rumours...
Happy Day, & g'luck to all, -j :>
PS-- this wknd at the Min'gConf., Kaiser said he thinks the Alberta d-play has the potential to turn our spec market around in the next few weeks.
PPS-- like Jan on Brady Bunch would say, "Marshy, Marshy, Marshy!!" (sorry! ;) ) |
