| | | I have been in Cape Town mostly away from the city proper since March 1st, and since lockdown of S Africa (arguably the third most drastic enforced on the planet), must say the folks in this town mostly behaved well, fo the greater good, even as there were some troubling incidents on the other side of the mountain in the city proper requiring military intervention
my preference, if up to me, given that none know for sure about the nature of the virus, is to err on the conservative side, and given so, be conservative w/r to lockdown.
but then again, I understand there are emergencies (tooth ache) and imperatives (chocolate donuts) that must be met. Especially chocolate donuts. A habit I must break as soon as more treats are available.
In the case of the video, appears to be taking place in an apartment building, about folks breaking some lockdown rules or otherwise requiring distancing but refused to obey the rules, and so a large group of folks tasked with the job came for them, and the rule-breakers were certainly uncooperative w/ folks needing to do what they do for the greater good, of the rest of the folks in the apartment building.
they all used the stair case as opposed to the elevator, for the greater good.
My mom lives in a high-rise near us within 12 min walk, and the kids like to visit whenever we are wandering nearby, and during this time since Lunar New Year in late January she stayed at our place, a low density setup w/ own garden, a rarity in HK. Her computer was moved to our place. She has no need to return to her place by elevators until better times.
The kids liked her place along the boardwalk in the 'fishing' village. Alas, strange times call for different protocols.

We ourselves are now at Stage 4 of 5 Stage program in S Africa / Cape Town. Understanding DRD and the gold mines shall get back to minting gold come tomorrow.
Have not been going outside at all, as the wife is in charge of groceries together w/ her local friend, and dry goods delivered. Busying self w/ Jack's education. Interim conclusion, if ever in prison, better if have view.

Level 5: Drastic measures are required to contain the spread of the virus to save lives. Level 4: Some activity can be allowed to resume subject to extreme precautions required to limit community transmission and outbreaks. Level 3: It involves the easing of some restrictions, including on work and social activities, to address a high risk of transmission. Level 2: It involves the further easing of restrictions, but the maintenance of physical distancing and restrictions on some leisure and social activities to prevent a resurgence of the virus. Level 1: Most normal activity can resume, with precautions and health guidelines followed at all times. |
