In late June of 2005 I had my near catastrophic heart attack. Dr. Joe at Truckee River became my cardiac doctor that day. After my operation in Reno, and a stroke, and a diagnosis of Diabetes Type 2, I started seeing Joe and he set up my medication which has been largely unchanged since then. As the weeks and months wore on, I complained about increased occurrences of severe nighttime cramping of my extremities.

Dr. Joe prescribed quinine, and it helped a lot. I was hooked immediately. I had had this condition for years prior and I knew immediately that Quinine was a huge benefit to me. A year later the FDA started restricting quinine use for only malaria. At first Dr. Joe was able to write the prescription and I was able to get quinine from mail order pharmacies in Canada. Then the FDA shut down that path as well. I was cutoff from my medication. I turned to the internet and found a website that included quinine in its raw form from trees harvested in South America. Their information included the historical path that led to quinine being isolated from tree bark back in the 1930s or 1940s. That data is now gone. And they are out of stock for that product.

Fortunately I bought a kilo of that product and still have about half of it left which should be enough to last the rest of my life.

It is interesting that the FDA shut down quinine use for non-malaria related issues shortly after Dr. Fauci's NIH news letter publicized its use for a non-malaria situation - Sars Covid. The medicine men of the Central America taught the 16th century Jesuit Priests that cinchona bark was good for treating a bunch of different maladys. As in all things timing is everything.
