A Congressman who celebrated California’s beach closures was caught romping on a private beach after saying it was “reckless” to allow the lowly citizens on the beach.

Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the state’s hundreds of miles of beaches closed to the public as a means to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Critics of the closures said that the governor did not have the legal right to close the beaches. And when these criticisms made the news, Democratic Congressman Harley Rouda slammed the attacks on the closures saying it was reckless to open the beaches.

“Keeping Orange County beaches open during a heat wave is reckless,” Rouda tweeted on April 21. “We need leaders who will prioritize public health and make the tough calls to keep our families safe.”

Rouda continued: “Opening beaches to thousands of Southern Californians during a weekend heat-wave without adequate social-distancing protocols was a reckless action that put the families of California’s 48th district in harm’s way.”

But after Rouda was heard attacking the critics of Newsom’s orders, CBS News fond photos of the congressman enjoying one of California’s beaches… but a private one.

CBS noted that Rouda was seen in the photos “spending time at a private beach in Southern California” days after he criticized Californians who thought they should be allowed to go to the beach, too.

Rouda tried to explain it away saying that he and his family “were actively moving and adequately socially distancing on a residential beach, which has explicitly outlined beach access requirements in accordance with Governor Newsom’s beach order.”

So, Rouda was all for shutting down beaches for the lowly people, but he not for himself. Oh, no, like a good, privileged Democrat, he doesn’t think the rules apply to him.

Typical Democrat.
