Since few "cases" are actually serious (in percentage terms), reporting "cases" is pretty meaningless, except to try to scare people.


What metric to use?

Perhaps hospitalizations?

After all, this is what this whole "flatten the curve" thing is about - to prevent over-running the hospitals. Period.
Anything else is thought up afterwards, and could be applied to other diseases...
