nice "hill country". i used to have a relative who lived in fredericksberg (the sister of my step father. what relation is that?... a step aunt? no se.) lots of little rivers and streams in the hill country of tejas - you probably have some similar terrain in NC, no?
fredericksberg is also only 10 miles from the famous "lukenbach, tejas" where willie and waylon and "the boyz" would get together for willie's birthday to make music, drink beer, smoke pot and talk about horses and women and, and, and ...uhmmm... outlaw stuff... or golf... lukenbach was that rare place where cowboys and hippies freely mixed and played together. i think it still is. i'll bet four cents that tiger paw has been there.
i have a good texan friend i met in guatemala who, at one point in his life, managed the bar in lukenbach. he used to brag that he once threw out (86ed) jerry jeff walker for being over-inebriated. it was his brush with "fame". <g>
here's an interesting article about jerry jeff's contribution to lukenbach:
and here's a tribute poem to the late Hondo Crouch (former owner/mayor of lukenbach - population 3) from JJWs 1977 album, -- "A Man Must Carry On"... "Like Some Song You Can't Unlearn" by Charles John Quarto (01:06 min)
four cents please
-pepe (the outlaw hippie redneck chihuahua)
ps- if your son sends a pic from lukenbach, please post. it's more of a small farm/ranchito with a bar/general store than a town... but it looks like it's probably right down that road in the picture you shared. i wonder if it's closed?
