Parts of NC just before you get to the foothills of the Appalachians have some similarity, but here not so much big sky. One thing about the great plains I miss.. that great big sky and the distant horizon. Here, the horizon is generally closer. When we drive back, I usually start carrying on about the 'big sky' somewhere around western Kentucky... :)
