Excellent post.

I'm not sure why we can't treat different groups of people differently. Like you indicated, the average age of a virus death in many places is about 80 and the data on young people is much more positive and the sample size is now rather large. It's not clear that treating everybody exactly the same makes any sense. Again, based on the real data, not emotion.

Where I live, the grocery store opens at 6 am for old people and from 6 am to 7 am only old people are allowed in. That seems reasonable.

As far as opening schools,....make the decision based on the data. Of course if any parent wants to engage in home schooling, they have always had that right in most places. When schools are forced to be closed, the people that are hurt the most are low income children, many that will never receive home schooling and many that don't have home broadband.
