Out of Favor sector look.

Semi equip stocks are not the only ones out of favor these days.

I've been watching the gold sector for an entry point. Here is the chart of a leading Gold Fund...

chart.yahoo.com

A bit premature at this point to say that gold has put in a bottom, but the chart above looks poised to make a head/shoulders bottom.

Good reading abounds on the pros/cons of gold these days. Personally, I'm looking for a good bottom play in this oversold sector. Already, gold has bounced back from $280 to $300/oz in 2 weeks. Potential is good for a 100% gain in gold funds this year on a return to $380/oz.

Looking ahead to 1/1/2000, failure of govenments to convert computer systems in time could lead to flight to safety into gold. State of Texas is looking at 50% failure rate to comply. The new computer system put in LAST YEAR for Child Support payments is not compliant.

Apocalypse Now.
