If someone has a letter, they need to email it.

I have had need recently to send two things. I thought of the discussion here with each. Each has to do with my 102 year ikd aunt in Arizona, whose money I look after.

The first was my need to send the outfit who handles her pension my POA so they would tell me details of her employment needed to apply for Medicaid for her. She has spent down her savings. The customer service folk were working from home so I couldn't use either mail or fax. Only option was email. I tried twice but each, after several days, was returned as undeliverable. The first time might have been the size of the attachments. The second time I did screen shots of the attachments, instead, and embedded them in the body of the email. Still undeliverable. Customer service gal said maybe something was blocking them and would contact her IT folks. Never got back to me. It later occurred to me to try emailing them via web-based email rather than my POP3 acct and that one got through. (Still haven't gotten an answer to my questions, though.)

The second was that, concurrently, my aunt's debit card expired. She has a caregiver who carries the card and shops for her, pays doctors, etc. I don't know why the bank didn't send her a replacement before expiration. The address on our joint checking account is mine so I would have expected it to have come to me. To further complicate things, I could not get her a new debit card. Apparently she is a whole 'nother person to the bank. None of that duality shows up on their website, which I have used for a couple of decades to oversee her money. So, I ended up getting a prepaid credit card which was mailed to me by the bank and which I then mailed to the caregiver. Given that I'm in lockdown, the USPS was a lifesaver.

You might not need it often but, when you need it, you need it.

FWIW.
