i love watching weather -- whether it be skywatching -- clouds moving in... this area is terrific for that kind of thing as the clouds move up and down the Bay of Fundy with the tide. get some neat clouds here -- like mackerel clouds, and sometimes rows and rows that look like puffy trains in a shunting yard. last autumn, on my way to town, i pulled off the road to photograph some that looked like huge mountains or waves surging along the horizon -- rather ominous, actually.
i liked cooking at the outdoor kitchen in AZ for the same reason. dynamic clouds -- on one day i remember, there were so many absolutely crazy looking lenticular clouds in all sort of shapes.. single, doubles, stacks like pancakes -- all floating along from the chiricahuas toward the mule mountains... and it all looked so crazy and impossible it was making me laugh.
being in an area with so many mountain ranges with desert between it was great .. i know you will already know that because you have spent years in those kind of places and also with flying.
anyhow, i love that kind of thing.
also love watching water -- currents -- waterfalls -- rapids -- water squishing through mill races. love watching standing waves in a river rock garden -- eddies and whirlpools.
yeah, it's all good. i try to make time to watch the sky every day, or stand on the bridge below my house and watch the river going through. it's like a huge animal...
maps are good too. i was watching maps when greta was sailing across.
of course, as you might guess, a lot of people talk about the weather around here... lobster fishermen, etc.. it's part of life -- and what keeps people safe. we get some wild weather at times. not quite so crazy as over on the atlantic side, but the bay gets some dynamic weather and waves as well, especially when there are king tides.
i like fractals too. you know that romanescu broccoli grows like fractals?
:)
