i am not a doctor or a scientist but i just listened to a presentation by research scientist from two regenerative biotech companies , one using marrow cells from donors one using cells from placentas. they both had tremendous results from people suffering from ARDS related covid 19 who were put on ventilators. using their products mortality improved from at least 50% to a minimum of 25%. that means mortality was at least cut in half. Under these dire circumstances why cant people just be given this stuff while they wait for trials to be completed? i saw one statistic where the mortality in new york of people being put on ventilators was 97% in april. I just dont understand why we would wait when we could conservatively save 50,000 lives just in the United States if we did not have to wait for trial results and FDA approval. I know that if I were in a situation of having Covid and being put on a ventilator I would want these products given to me. I suspect that these products which modulate the bodys immune response would also help with kidney and liver damage as well. though there is no anecdotal information about that. It is so frustrating to me that reward/risk for these products is so high and that no one can get access to them unless they are part of a trial which i know in the case of one company is limited to 140 people not all of which will even receive the product. an opportunity to save so many people just being lost like this is just horrible.
