I'd say that AMAZON is a rather unique case in terms of its "Start Up" and its initial "Non-Profit" status.

There were a few unique components that happen to have been present when Jeff Bezos conceived his "Business Plan" ....

There are many companies exploiting unique opportunities in the same manner that not only Amazon has succeeded in but so has Facebook, Google, EBAY and more recently TTD,SHOP, ZM, ROKU, SQ, TWLO and many more.
A.I. is in its infant stage and the combination of cloud, cheap sensors and A.I. has brought out thousands of innovators. This is just one area of business distortion. There are many other opportunities today and we will need them to help us deal with the pandemic.
I've found success in capturing companies like ZYXI after they turned profitable but my work has been concentrated on capturing companies at the very root of commercialization of their product as there is much stock price appreciation to be gained before the stock becomes profitable. This has been a learning process for me and I am constantly adding other criteria to review a company's progress.
The stocks that are appealing to me right now get an F for value in a traditional sense and an A for growth. Where to find value and growth combined is to find stocks that are selling at modest P/S or low EV/S multiples despite high growth. These companies will never pay a dividend at growth stage because they are all hands on deck for growth.
There are many more companies that fail to deliver on what they promise than ones that succeed but higher risk means higher reward is possible. AMZN is not unique in its strategic rise.
Probably none of the stocks that I am invested in will get to AMZN's size, My goal is to get stocks I invest in from micro cap to small cap status and from OTC to Nasdaq as that is where I found the greatest return.
Thanks for the discussion Bruwin.
