You are not confusing the 'leverage buyouts' of the 80s with CPQ/DEC merger,are you? Haven't seen one of those in years, almost all of the recent mergers/acquisitions have been somewhat successful if not very, that is not to say it is going to be easy,then again what is?
I do know about some companies having digestive problems with their acquisitions, eg. Ascend/Casade, 3Com/U.S Robotics are the two that comes to mind,as for the good ones there are too many to mention in the Banking sector,Technology,Telecomm etc etc. If were a betting man, I wouldn't bet against CPQ. |
