Exabyte Named Outstanding Supplier By Sun Microsystems

PR Newswire, Friday, October 04, 1996 at 13:00

BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Exabyte Corp. (NASDAQ:EXBT) today
said that it has been honored by key business partner Sun Microsystems with an
Outstanding Supplier award. Exabyte is one of only ten companies selected by
Sun -- from among a field of over 600 total vendors -- to receive the
prestigious annual award. Selection is based upon consistently providing Sun
with outstanding levels of product quality, support, technology and materials
management.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Exabyte has received a Sun
supplier award, and the first time the company has earned the "outstanding"
designation, one of Sun's highest. In each of the past three years, Exabyte
has been named a Sun Meritorious Supplier.
"We're honored to receive this award, and we thank Sun for supporting and
recognizing our efforts across all areas of Exabyte -- engineering,
manufacturing, sales, marketing and customer support -- to be the world's
premier tape storage supplier," commented Peter Behrendt, Exabyte's chairman
of the board, president and chief executive officer.
Exabyte supplies Sun with 8mm tape drives and automated tape libraries,
which are incorporated into the popular Sun SPARC and Ultra Enterprise product
lines. In addition, Sun also uses Exabyte products inhouse to protect and
manage its own data.
